2009/10 Works on Wood
Late in 2008, I was given several pieces of wood to paint on. The grain of the wood was so beautiful, I could not stand to cover it up. So I drew and painted right on it, using the grain itself to help inform the subject matter of each piece. The work below is not from that 1st set of paintings (which were on uniform pieces of wood), but the series that followed. Each painting is on a piece of found wood, so they vary greatly in size and texture. As you will see, however, the subject matter is one of my first, and possibly deepest, dives into my ongoing exploration of inner beauty and self-confidence as they relate to introspection and physical/spiritual energy.
