2010 Mixed Media Paintings
This series represents the beginning of my exploration of mixed media on paper. Each drawing is carefully mounted to a wood or plywerk panel (as noted below) and sealed with several layers of acrylic medium for protection. The imagery crept its way from my subconscious onto the page early in the morning during my daily painting ritual. For this project I allowed myself to be particularly whimsical, painting exactly what I saw in the patterns of each watercolor wash with which I began the piece. Although I "divined" the images from the watercolor wash, I believe they are still guided--like most of my work--by my interest in introspection, balance, and personal growth.
