During the quiet and stillness of the early morning, I like to pull out my sketchbook and
tap   into the dream-state that still lingers in my head from the night before.  I look within
myself, put pen to paper or brush to canvas, and begin to work with very little concept of
what will come. My goal is to purge, to relate with, and to discover aspects of myself and
how I relate to the outside world. My hope is that these introspective images will
somehow connect with the viewer, bringing beauty, insight, and emotion from my own
world into yours, finding a commonality in two separate lives.

I am influenced by the bright colors and patterns of Klimt and Hundertwasser, by the illustrative borders of Mucha and
other Nouveau artists, 1970’s poster art, and by the bold simplicity of Pop Art. I also love many comic book artists such
as Johnen Vasquez, Dave McKean, and Sam Keith. I am inspired by my daughter, good books, and music that makes
the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, friends and laughter, and movies that take me into another world.

I was born in Loveland, Colorado, in 1976, but having lived in Portland for over a decade now, I really consider myself
an Oregonian.  I graduated from Portland State in 2002, two years after the birth of my daughter, with a Bachelor’s
degree in Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking. For more about me and my work you can visit
